Throughout the history of the school, parental involvement has been integral to the School's success. In 1970, parents wanted this school enough to work to make it happen. Today parents continue to play a key role in the education of their children and the betterment of the school. Parents are encouraged to frequently communicate with their children's teachers and are always welcome in the classrooms to share their talents and skills.
In addition,The Parents' Association is active in planning fundraising activities, organizing family and social events and are always looking for volunteers. All TCS parents receive a packet the summer before the school year begins, detailing the many volunteer opportunities available through The Parents' Association along with sign-up forms. You can also go directly to the Parents' Association page to find out more information.
Volunteer offerings are also often listed in the volunteer section of our weekly newsletter, "Happenings," as they are needed throughout the year. You can click here to check current opportunities.
As with all independent schools, The Children’s School finds it necessary to raise funds beyond tuition.
Parents support the annual giving campaign, both financially and by volunteering to work with our development office throughout the year. This support helps provide for financial aid as well as items such as new buses, technology and items for our fine arts programs. While we do set a monetary annual giving goal each year, most importantly we strive for 100% parent participation. This is one quantifiable way that we can demonstrate what we already know to the community at large - that we have wonderful parent involvement and support!
Periodically, parents are also called upon to support a capital campaign, from which funds are used for capital improvements to the campus. The Children’s School recently completed a $3.5 million capital campaign called “The Future Is Here!” resulting in the complete renovation of four buildings on campus, new center of campus and main entry, and accompanying site work.
